I think it would be handy if you could add folder with a lot image into a Atlas and they get referenced into it without actually “being” there. Working as a SmartFolder does in TexturePacker, using SmartFolders with Atlases could decrease the merge conflicts and is a nice quality of life feature, as you don’t have to add every single image into an atlas, decreasing the steps you have need to input a image into the game.

This feature is so necessary.
It’s not precisely like in the issue, but you can utilise Editor Script atlas for making atlases out of multiple image files in one click:
You can also now select multiple images and just drag and drop them into atlas, when it’s open in the Editor.
