WYSIWIG script editor?

That may seem overkill but Blueprint in Unreal and softwares like Construct or Gamemaker are attracting a huge community cos their scripting possibilities are brought to the mere mortals having no knowledge of scripting at all.

A nice drag’n’drop thingy to represent interactions between GO would be really a boost in usability I think. Anyone would give it a try if it’s easy, at least

I’ll certainly start working on an editor on my own, to bring your engine to a lesson for youngsters soon, it will be able to basically replace script editor by a node-based system and drag’n’drop interaction.

You can actually get quite far with a lot of small specialised scripts that you add to your game objects to build complex behaviour. Combine that with exposable script properties and you get a lot of flexibility. It’s not really the same as something like Construct, but it makes things a bit more approachable to non-developers.

It does , it’s the approach I’m currently using ^^ But I’m a visual guy, love my things to connect visually, to see the stuff unfold on a map  Programming with links and bubbles, like a gamification of dev. always interested me

Just thought I would give this a bump and add the following comments.

I am a person who has used Unreal’s Blueprint system to make simple prototypes. I am not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination. That said Visual scripting has allowed me to make prototypes that I have otherwise would not be able to make.

If a Visual Scripting Editor was integrated then I would be a convert for defold. I currently like defold allot.

That said - I know that Unity Tech is working on a Visual Scripting solution according to their road map and they have teased it at GDC 2016.
