What tools you have used to produce sprites used in tutorials?

Can somebody list out the tools you have used to produce sprites used in Defold tutorials?

The graphics are made in standard image software, Illustrator and Photoshop. The animations are made in Esoteric Software’s Spine. Defold has native support for Spine json files. See http://www.defold.com/doc/spine

It is easy to animate in other software and export frames and use flip-book animations. I’ve done animation in Toon Boom Animate myself and used in Defold projects.

These tools are costly. I cannot afford them. do you have any other recommendations?

For animation? There are quite a few free 2d animation tools out there. I don’t know anyone well enough to recommend, but check out this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_2D_animation_software

There’s also on-line tools like http://www.piskelapp.com/ and if you Google around you might find a few others.

Spriter seems popular and it has a free version. Perhaps it’s enough for your needs?

Thank You Sicher! Will check it out.

Thank You birtzl. I have decided to use Spriter. Bought Spriter Pro.

Is Flash Pro an option?

No, there is no support for Flash.

No, but you can if I’m not mistaken export a Flash animation to a sprite sheet and that can be used as a tilesource for flipbook animations.

That’s what I meant. I didn’t mean direct SWF support. There’s also “DragonBones” for 2D skeletal animation export.
