What are some good sites for graphics and other game assets when prototyping?

The free assets from Kenney are quite frequently used in our examples and tutorials and I’ve used them myself in the example projects I’ve created. What other good sources of game assets exits, both free and for purchase? Which ones are your favourites?

A few that I know of:

I’ve found these. Sadly most are paid and some have restrictive licenses. I’ve omitted Unity Asset Store as I believe their license states that you must use their assets only in their engine.

I’m not convinced you don’t own this site, or are at least not paid to market it for SEO, you use very similar language each time you post it on a forum, you even used the same language both times you’ve posted here. What you are doing is unethical. You shouldn’t try to pass off links like this as if you are unaffiliated with it.

There’s more.

With a little bit of extra work, a lot of 3D art can become quite suitable prototype sprites when rendered in top or side perspective.

So it may be worthwhile to also look at 3D-sources like http://www.turbosquid.com/

Luis Zuno (that I think is also playing with Defold) has some nice ones.

Quora has some links in a similarly worded question that might provide further insight https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-best-website-for-free-game-art-assets-and-game-development-resources

Also, a Github repo with resources for indie game developers that includes graphics: https://github.com/ellisonleao/magictools

I found this list of nice asset packs: https://design.tutsplus.com/articles/the-must-have-game-assets-for-designers-and-digital-artists--cms-26641

None are free though, but the individual asset packs were not very expensive (~$7 per pack)

Wylio for photos
I think it searches Flikr for photos tagged as Creative Commons

I find www.textures.com to be super, super useful (it’s useful for 3D and analog/board game design as well). Free account will meet virtually all prototyping needs (depending on what you are doing it might be worth paying for higher res when you hit production).

Do you have some links?

Personally, what I do is use Google Images but I use the advanced search settings to set the results to have a license labeled for free commercial reuse. Noncommercial works too, but I like to play it safe.

On my search for affordable 2D spaceships i stumbled across this site:
http://graphicsforgames.com/

Hint: Navigation is a bit confusing. After selecting a category you need to also click the category image on the new site to see it’s content…

HI it seems somebody complained about somebody posting their own site but I’m going to post my own site as I feel it’s got the quality and assets to be a helpful reply! https://www.gamedeveloperstudio.com
There’s loads of free game assets on there for you to use.
