Tips for level making?

Boy this has been a tough week mentally for me- this was my last chemo but still it really kicked me in the brain pan. But I pushed thru and completed another tiny milestone in Defold. I have almost caught to my original version in Godot.

OK I have the basic template going but before I continue-

What are some tips for level creation- Essentially not much changes just background, enemy path , and some labels.

I was told if I copy a collection that any changes to one affects all copies.

So what are the the tips for making level templates?

Thanks

I was told if I copy a collection that any changes to one affects all copies.

If you duplicate the collection file itself changes in one do not happen in another, you can test this.

Did you mean if you put multiple instances of a collection inside of another one? Or physically copying the .collection file? As Pkeod says, copying the whole file will work fine.

The engineer in me would likely create collections for any unique types of level, and then devise a data structure to define the full details of each level (which the init scripts use to set everything up).

Copying the file maybe easier- but a data structure may be smarter.
