New artist dev and Snap Grid

Hi everyone. I’m new to Defold, but I’m an artist. I’ve worked in Unity, but also in Godot and tried Gamemaker. And I know a little bit about scripting. I’d like to create a pixelart game. I’m quite interested in Defold because it looks and works quite well, although it doesn’t have as many features, I don’t think I’ll need them for my pixelart like Unity has. I wouldn’t want to continue with a software that doesn’t have basic features and would make working with it a pain. I have to say that even though I like Defold, I’m quite frustrated by how the pivot works and the lack of a snap grip. I’d like to know if this Defold is just a programming issue or if it can be worked with like in Godot. I don’t like wasting time. Defold is not new, but it’s 2025 and since there’s no Snap feature yet, I’m afraid I’ll run into worse things. How do you solve Snap.. using code and numbers? How do other users solve it

Welcome to Defold! Defold is indeed more bare bones than Unity and Godot. This is mostly by design to get a lean and performant engine.

When it comes to the editor and scene editing we are about to release (in Defold 1.10.4 in less than a month) a configurable scene grid:

One of the next steps is to add snapping of scene elements. I can’t say exactly when this will arrive but I expect some improvements to come during Q3.
