May someone please assist me with getting ads working on my iPhone? I got them working perfectly on Android but on iPhone when I open my game it immediately closes. And when I removed anything to do with the ads, the game works fine on iPhone so I know it’s the ads. Here’s my code for my ads. I theorized everything is set up properly aside this code cause it works fine with my Android.

I made sure my live code is correct. I made sure the Admob account is set up for iOS, I made just the iOS tracking and everything is set up like the defold tutorial said. I’m so confused cause it works fine.

I got it working for Android cause this video, and from the video it only said to uncomment the idfa part which I did but it still doesn’t work. Please help!!!

The first things you should do when your application crashes, regardless of platform is to check the system logs. There will be information about why the application crashed. Here’s how to get the logs on iOS:

Peace Unto You! I was at this for 10 hours straight yesterday so I learned a few things and kinda gotta grasp on why it wasn’t working I just don’t know how to fix it. So In the console log I get this error

Also I read that I need to have an ATT for Apple which doesn’t show up. My idfa doesnt pop up as well, and I read that something called a PLIST file may have something to do with that, but I don’t know truly how to set it up for ads to work. I combined the default defold PLIST and admobs PLIST file and updated the ad mob one to include my code but it still doesn’t fix the issue. And the fact that my ATT and idfa doesn’t pop up is a issue and may be why the app keeps crashing cause Apple won’t let the app start unless I set all the permissions up. To my knowledge I tried every way I could watched many videos read many forums and seen in one forum a guy said he got his ATT to work by putting the request idfa out of the init way at the bottom but even that didn’t work for me.

There’s no true guide on a full step by step for Apple. Especially if you’re new like me, theres no reference. Again I got the ads for the android working fine, but from my research it has something to do with a PLIST, my idfa not working and the att message not popping up even though I have the tracking description done and ready like the defold tutorial said

Did you try downloading, setting up (fulfilling the requirements: Defold AdMob extension API documentation), and building for your iPhone from the original repo?

I have the lastest version of the ad mob extension, so if that’s what you mean yes. Forgive me, I’m new so I have no idea what you mean by fulfil requirements, but to my knowledge I have everything set up properly. Further indicator of that is the android version of the game works fine, but for the iPhone based on that crash message in my previous message it has something to do with that alongside me not properly setting up apples permissions somehow.

Do you have any idea what that crash message means? I feel like if we’re able to address that then maybe the Apple messages will pop up, but maybe the crash isn’t giving them a chance too

Next thing I would like you to try is this:

  1. Download https://github.com/defold/extension-admob/archive/refs/heads/master.zip
  2. Unzip
  3. Open as a Defold project
  4. Bundle for iOS
  5. Install on your iPhone
  6. Run

Does it work? If not, what happens?

No, you should not do this. Defold will automatically merge Info.plist files into a single plist file as described here. If you try to merge plist files yourself the result will likely not be correct and your app will not work.

Thank you for that, now I know it’s just something im doing wrong cause the ad mob test works just fine. I can request the idfa just fine on the ad mob test ipa. Even though I can request it, it immediately says denied and shows a different type of ad.

  1. Create a new empty project
  2. Add extension-admob as a dependency
  3. Open game.project in a text editor and add the AdMob configuration fields as described here: Defold AdMob extension API documentation
  4. Bundle and install on iOS

Does this work? If yes, then you have the basic setup done in a project of your own. Next steps:
