I currently know that the z position for tilemap layers are currently confined to the tilemap and has no effect on the position of anything else. I was thinking to just make 2 tilemaps and have them place on a background and foreground game object but when I’m planning to have 40+ maps its quickly apparent how convoluted that would become. I want my game to have secret areas hidden behind a foreground wall but I cant think of another way. Any Ideas?

This is actually reported as DEF-1184 and I agree that it’s quite annoying and would be really nice to have. I took a look at the ticket in our system and there’s even a PR that never got merged. I’ll check with the @Mathias_Westerdahl and @sven to see what can be done.

This issue really annoys sometimes.
Yes, interleaving tilemaps and sprites had been asked for for a long time. Let me check and get back to you next week.
