How do I change the color of a box node

I am working through the tutorials in order and have reached colorslide. I am on the part where you make a level complete message, and am trying to make the box node behind the “well done” text and “back” buttons show up like the readme says:

However, what I have is this:

I did the obvious and changed the color setting and made sure the alpha was 1, but it still seems to be transparent. However, if I add a texture, it shows up and the color changes.

Do I have to have a texture to have the the box node show up, or is there a way to just make a color box that I’m missing?

No, you do not need to assign a texture. Can you create a box node at the root of the node hierarchy? Does that node look ok?

No, whenever I create a box, it remains transparent, even when changing the color and alpha properties.

They don’t show up in game ethier unless I give them a texture.

Can you upload the project as is in a zip?

Uploading: Colorslide tutorial - Copy.zip…

Was it posted before the upload completed?

Yes, it also said I had to use a link instead.

please upload to another host with no restrictions like https://easyupload.io/

Works for 7 days

I loaded it up again and it seems like it is rendering in game, but it dosen’t change colors in the editor.

I downloaded your project and opened the level.gui file and it looks ok on macOS:

Could you please start a new empty project, create a new gui file and add a single box node. Is it still transparent?

Yes. Every box node I create for a gui does not change appearence in the editor but shows up in the build. It dosen’t matter which project.

I created a new empty project and loaded up the previous tutorial (warbattles), and adding a box node and changing it’s color for each did nothing in the editor.

My laptop uses Windows 10 Home
I am using the latest version of defold.

Your link above does not work anymore.

Please upload your sample project again, so we can try. I use Windows 10 as well, and I can’t reproduce this issue.

Downloaded the sample project already. It also looks ok on my PC (Windows 10). Sorry can’t reproduce this on my end.

It still says there is 5 days remaining till it expires. I clicked the link in the above post, hit download, and it worked.

Here’s a new one though. 15 days.

Create an empty project, add a single gui and box node. Don’t add the entire warbattle thing as well.

I

I meant I created a new empty project and tried with it and did the same with the war battles tutorial, adding box nodes to each and changing their colors did nothing in the editor.

Sorry, reading back over that it wasn’t really clear what I meant. But I got the same result, box node is just an outline in the editor.

I tried it in the war battles after creating a new one and trying it there in case it corrupted things created after the problem existed, but it dosen’t seem like it.

Ok, thank you for the clarification. I wonder if it’s a weird driver issue.

I cannot reproduce this on my Windows 10 machine.
@2022hannam Can you post the editor log? Click Help->Show Logs and look for files named something like editor2.2020-04-06.log

latest 2 logs.zip (24.5 KB)

I put the most recent two, the one from starting it up today and the one before that.

Thank you for posting the logs. I see nothing strange in the most recent log. In the log from the third of april there are some errors at the start of the log that have to do with network and file system access but they seem to have gone away in editor sessions after the first one. I also don’t think those issues would manifest in this way. So the logs are not much help I’m afraid.

What CPU and GPU (if any) do you have? Please specify exact model numbers if you can. Have you updated to the latest versions of the editor and your graphics drivers?
