GO and GUI Future Status

I’ve read that the GUI system has become a monolith over time, with development plans to move core features into GO and move GUI to an extension. Just curious if these plans are still active and if there is anything I should take into account (due to these future changes) when in the starting stage of developing my GUI. I’m considering the use of a couple well-celebrated extensions as well, so trying to plan things out accordingly.

I appreciate that the Defold team takes changes so seriously and implements changes carefully and thoughtfully. This is a wonderful engine.

Yes, it is still planned, and discussed within the team regularly. We are still in the very early stages, and any changes we do will be gradual and carefully thought out to be as minimally disruptive as possible.
