Initially inspired by the Resident Evil series of games, my aim is to expand the modest world created for the jam game. The player will explore numerous areas, interact with NPCs and survive a serious zombie outbreak. There are, of course, helpful items and weapons to find and use, secret areas to uncover and a conspiracy backstory to expose.
The game is a 2D top-down pixel-art view and will be optimised for both keyboard and controller play. I am using an extended version of the screen space lighting effects first used in my previous game Tiny Racing.
Targetting Steam at first for both PC and Steam Deck/Linux players. Nintendo Switch version hopefully a few month after that. The Steam page is now live and a playable demo available to try out. The demo showcases the first few areas of the game.
I like the demo, have been playing it for a little bit (not reached the ending yet).
Also some feedback if you want my thoughts
Playing the game on a ROG Ally, so basically with controller support. What I noticed directly in the settings was that changing the difficulty was done with the action buttons (A in my case) and the Sound and Music can only be changed with the DPAD, why not have the difficulty also listen to the DPAD?
Some more controls confusion happened for me in the inventory screen, I had 2 medikit sprays picked up. I’m so used that B button is to close, but both A and B buttons used one. I had to press Y to close the inventory but had lost both sprays while I was fully healed. This already happened twice to me now
Also found a bug I think; when a door is open, you can’t shoot through it. The bullet will still collide as if the door is closed.
