Downloading old version of the editor

The GitHub releases link is the easiest way to find old editor versions for download:

https://github.com/defold/defold/releases

Find the version you want to download and expand its assets list. Then find the beta editor version for it. For example, beta.editor2.Defold-x86_64-win32.zip for Windows.

For macOS, download the dmg, not the zip (which is not signed):

macOS old editor download is broken

have tried the steps above

Can you provide some more information? What SHA1, branch and platform are you trying to download?

The links look broken, I was trying to download the version 1.2.156 but the Windows link doesn’t work:

http://d.defold.com/editor2/67b68f1e1ac26a3385fb511cdce520fe52387bb0/editor2/Defold-x86_64-win32.zip

The example links on the first post don’t work either.

Edit: It looks like the alpha versions can be downloaded from those types of links: https://d.defold.com/archive/02a873db516cbd98e0bac4958f132213a2ac2db2/editor-alpha/editor2/Defold-x86_64-win32.zip
However it looks like it doesn’t work with stable versions.

The link to an editor release is:

https://d.defold.com/archive/SHA1/stable/editor2/Defold-x86_64-darwin.dmg

Where SHA1 should be replaced by a release SHA. You can see these in the URLs on d.defold.com

Can you guys edit the first post regarding updated links? Otherwise it’s confusing.

I’ve updated the post so that it now refers to the official manual:

How many versions you save.
In site there are only 6 version. https://d.defold.com/stable/
For example i can’t download 1.2.159

Yes, we have changed this from keeping every old version to version up to about 6 months old. This may prove to be too limited perhaps and we are open to changing this value in the future.

Does the build server only support the last few versions anyway?

As for the list of versions we support for native extensions we aim for roughly up to the last 10 versions.
However, as Björn now mentioned, it’s also time based, so we only keep the last 6 months.

I find this link the most convenient when downloading old versions:

Can the original post be edited to list the github link at the very top?

https://github.com/defold/defold/releases

I agree this was the easiest way to download an older version. The d.defold site I tried using hash of older versions and it did not seem to work.

Edit: Went ahead and edited the original post myself.
