Just checking if anyone has the same issue or maybe know what is wrong.
Adding objects, components etc (even in a tiny project) takes a long time, like 4 - 8 seconds.
My system info:
CPU: Intel Core i7-13700K
MOBO: Gigabyte Z790 GAMING X AX
Chassi: Corsair 5000D Airflow Black
RAM: 2 x Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 5200MHz 2x16GB (KF552C40BBK2-32)
CPU Cooling: Arctic Liquid Freezer II - 360
HD: Kingston KC3000 M.2 NVMe SSD Gen4 1024GB
PSU: Corsair RM850x V3 850W
GPU: KFA2 GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (1-Click OC) 8GB LHR
Defold should not be slow on a system as powerful as yours. Perhaps antivirus software? What does the windows task manager show? What kind of Cpu usage are you seeing?
With only chrome running with one tab open cpu is 1% - 3%.
Starting up Defold takes 16+ seconds and cpu spikes at around 27% then back to idling around 2%
Adding objects, components etc takes 4-8 seconds and cpu jumps to around 9%
There should be no reason for it to run that slow on your machine.
My guess you have some other tool installed that interferes somehow.
Startup does also access internet a bit to get updated examples but that shouldn’t be a large amount of data. Still, if the internet access is slow, it might slow it down.
I have a version of F-Secure branded by Telia (my isp here in sweden) and when I disable it Defold get blazingly fast! I have to try and figure out how to exclude Defold in f-secure settings. Huge thanks for the help
