Covering physics objects

I am creating a game in which a physics object is clicked on to reveal other physics objects. Like a mystery rectangular block that will cover two smaller blocks. They need to act as one object until clicked on and the two objects are revealed. I hope this makes sense. What would be the best method?

Why do they need to be physics objects? Are they interacting with other objects? Moving around and bouncing?

Yes. They are stackable blocks with physics.

You can perhaps call enable/disable on your components (or game objects)?
