Can a shader force a bluescreen of death be harmful to the GPU?

Testing a blur filter I made and maxing the amount of blur from 3,4 to 100 forced my computer to bluescreen. Is this harmful?

(And can I send it to friends as a joke without causing permanet damage :smiling_imp: )

If you manage to overheat the GPU for sustained amounts of time it can physically damage it.

Unplanned shutdowns can cause data loss and drive errors.
