Hi everyone! ![]()
With this post, I’m excited to announce the official release of my first little project made with Defold: Scoundrel!
Scoundrel is a digital adaptation of the classic solitaire dungeon crawler card game designed by Zach Gage and Kurt Bieg, reimagined with additional mechanics and features to create a more engaging gameplay experience.
The rules are quite simple: a classic deck of 44 cards becomes a dangerous dungeon you must fight your way through.
Spades and clubs represent dangerous monsters you must defeat, diamonds are weapons you can collect and use to make fighting enemies easier, and hearts are potions that restore your health.
The dungeon is divided into rooms of four cards, and every decision matters. You’ll need to think carefully about your choices if you want to make it to the end!
There are 7 unlockable characters, each with unique abilities that allow you to explore different strategies and approaches to the dungeon.
Besides the classic game mode, Scoundrel also features a Daily Dungeon, where everyone faces the same challenge, and, for those looking for a real test of endurance, an Endless Mode where you must survive an infinite descent into an increasingly dark and dangerous dungeon.
Achievements and leaderboards are also available for competitive players and completionists!
Scoundrel is completely free to play, with no ads or in-app purchases, and is currently available on the following platform:
More platforms coming soon…
Downloads, reviews, feedback, suggestions, and any kind of support to help Scoundrel grow are, of course, always very welcome!
Finally, I’d like to say a huge thank you to the Defold team for making all of this possible with their fantastic engine, and to the community members who helped me during my first steps learning Defold. A special thanks also goes to @Sliggoo and @BLISSY on Discord, who kindly volunteered to help me with the closed testing phase required by Google Play.
This has been a great learning experience, and I’m really happy to finally share the result with you all.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy Scoundrel! ![]()
