I’m honestly amazed by how fast certain things can get done with Defold! Particularly as I’m used to ASM and ‘C’ language where you have to write everything yourself.

Week 5

Another week, another milestone! This week has been spent on lots of small jobs - tying up loose ends, tweaking and polishing everything. The whole game feels cohesive now with the various parts smoothly flowing together.

  • The AI has been improved somewhat and enemies behave more as expected
  • There is now a hidden room on each level for the player to find
  • The shop has had a visual overhaul and I’m pleased with how it appears now
  • There are now 5 completed levels - they take nearly a whole day each to make!
  • The front-end menus have been tidied up a bit
  • Level transitions are smoother with visual and audio fades
  • A few new sound effects and menu music added

Testers Wanted

I’m releasing a 1 level demo of the game as it currently stands. If anyone would like to have a go and give some feedback, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’d mostly like to know the following:

  • What OS are you using?
  • Were there any visual glitches or things that looked out of place? (screenshots appreciated)
  • Did you find the hidden room?
  • How many attempts did it take you to finish the demo?
  • What was your time?

You start off with 1000 credits to spend in the shop - normally you’d start with 0 and have to find credits along the way
