We’re happy to share a release of new official YouTube Playables SDK extension for Defold!
The extension-playables provides Lua access to the YouTube Playables SDK and handles the integration needed between a Defold HTML5 game and the Playables environment.
The extension currently covers:
game lifecycle and readiness
cloud save/load data
pause and resume handling
YouTube audio settings
player language
sending scores
opening YouTube videos or other Playables
interstitial and rewarded ads
error and warning reporting
Playables environment and SDK version detection
It also includes an HTML5 engine template which loads the YouTube Playables SDK automatically, and can automatically keep Defold’s master audio state synchronized with YouTube’s audio, pause and resume events.
This should make it considerably easier to adapt a Defold web game for the YouTube Playables environment without implementing the JavaScript SDK bridge yourself.

P.S. In the recent interview with Green Train Studio and Playgama we discussed Youtube Playables - you can read it here:
Do you mean published on Youtube Playables? Check out the interview with Green Train Studio (linked just above) - they published their game made with Defold with Playgama there.
We’d also like to hear some more such stories, that’s why we made a standalone extension! We’ve tested the extension internally and we think it’s good enough to share it already
EDIT:
Here’s next one, I just was informed was made with Defold (also with Playgama Bridge):
Banana Kong was recently also released on YouTube Playables:
Note that none of the linked games used the extension in this post. It was just released and not made in collaboration with any of the games listed here. But please do tell us if you decide to use it!
