Knight Bolts , My first Defold game

Hey guys,

this is my first attempt, to create a game in Defold. For now its called “Knight Bolts“ and is physics game where you have to defeat the orcs, before they destroy the castle. The actual idea, was to create a Angry Birds like game (Slingshot Knights), but my I was afraid, that I dont have the skill yet.

At the beginning it took a little bit longer to set up, than in Godot.. but now I can create some levels per drag and drop .. whats actually pretty neat

Sorry for the bad quality. Had to shrink the video size

Hey guys,

another further steps forward. I created a stage select and did some polishing..

The game needs some progress bar and maybe a shopping system. (Dont know how yet)

If somebody is interested in playing the first 4 levels, you can play a demo on itch..

The controls are easy. Just smash the left mouse button

Beside that i created a logo and some other visual enhancements.

I should make some challenging an cool levels and probably put it on crazygames.

See ya :love_you_gesture:

Yes played all levels, love the art style and design. Things are clear how to play, icons are good.
Just one thing, when we click “next level”, the next level should begin directly, we should not need to choose the level again.
Maybe you should think also of other game mechanics to control what we are doing, Had a hard time to kill the boss, because it sometimes just jump all over the place.
Nothing too problematic, but for next levels it could be harder and harder to make us win!

Thank you very much for your feedback :folded_hands: Yes. The „next level“ Button is in top of my to do list .

I’m working on some new level mechanics like armored enemies and bombs.

I make new levels and let you know :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yet you created something unique instead!

I’m happy that you like it :flexed_biceps:t2::tada:

I love the art.
Fun game. It gets pretty hard on the boss level since you can’t really control in which direction everything is going to bounce lol.

Are you considering letting the player control the character movement on horizontal? I think it could be fun. It reminds me of an upside down Bubble Trouble

Yeah. Maybe this needs to be balanced

Didnt think about going horizontal by controls. But if the player wants it, I will implement it

Soooo.. the gamedev.js jam is over and I need to get back to my old project.

There a new ingame shop in my game, where you can upgrades for the princes, castle or buy some extra knights. (I will probably put that shop in eeeveery game from me  )

Still pretty empty.. but somehow lacking on ideas, what the player could buy

Trying to put some interesting ideas in the game, that could catch the player.. like some kind of bombs.

The game cover is finished too and the next big step would be, to create 15 levels and put the “demo” in the wilds.

That’s it for now.

Nice update. The shop feels like the right kind of addition for this stage, but I’d keep the first version small so it doesn’t swallow the rest of the project. Getting the 15 levels and a demo out sounds like the bigger win right now, and once the levels are there you’ll have a better sense of which upgrades actually earn their place.

How many levels are there now? I’m stuck on level 8 with no idea what I should destroy. Am I missing something?

It is 8  there are no more levels in this version.

I didnt update itch for a while. Will put a newer version online the next days. I take the current version offline.. tho its not really playable
