Editor: Line cut off if too many characters

I had some lines with several hundred characters in one of my script files.

First I thought the end of the line was hidden behind the minimap but after deactivating the minimap (View → Minimap) I found out that the line is still cut off. So even by moving the horizontal scrollbar of the editor to the far right it doesn’t reach the end of the line.

If you can’t reproduce it: I’m using Linux Mint 20.3 Cinnamon.

I noticed this a few weeks ago on Ubuntu. I just tried to replicate it (1.9.5); it did not occur.
This is not something I am concerned about at all, I never have long lines (I had loaded someone else’s code & F8 sorted it). Possibly it has been quietly fixed.

Actually I’m using 1.9.5 and I’m still seeing it.

Does it happen only with specific file types or encoding? I’m using Linux Mint 21, and wondering if it behaves differently in newer setups.
