Instead of having the camera trail behind the player’s movement, I’d have it move toward further in the direction the player is facing. This way there is always more distance from the player toward the direction the player is facing rather than more distance between the player’s back and the direction that’s behind him. The camera in this platformer shows what I mean although only in 2d directions.
That’s a better! Try testing it more extreme to one direction looking forward rather than closer to centerting and see how it feels?
