Defold-friendly impact tiers: map 0..1 power onto light/heavy files (Quakehammer Lite)

I’m the creator. Short audio layout tip that ports cleanly into Defold gain groups / factories — from an impact and screen-shake pack I just released.

In Defold you often already have a 0..1 value for camera shake. Use that same value to pick among pre-leveled files instead of riding one clip’s gain:

  1. Name each hit take with _light / _medium / _heavy suffixes and locked loudness (heavier = more body and longer tail, same design). Keep families in folders like 03_ground_slam/.
  2. On hit: map power in 0..1 onto those tiers (thresholds at 1/3 and 2/3), play that file on an FX gain group; apply the same power to your shake script that frame.
  3. Optional one-shots on the same message: sub drop under the hit, short shake sweetener, debris for what breaks.
  4. For collapsing rooms: loop a short rumble with fade in/out on a separate group rather than spam one-shots.

The free Lite has 22 sounds — light and heavy of each family (medium lives in the full set) — so you can prototype the message → factory wiring first:

Happy to answer Defold audio wiring questions on the tier pick.
