And to preempt your questions: yes, I was the one asking the questions, and then also answering some of them
Just treat it like these were two roles, I was working on this project last year, and right now I’m honoured to make an interview about it with guys and my past self
(I hope it sounds sane enough xD)
Really worth reading though, as it was quite a journey!
Thank you for the insight. It was very interesting to learn more about texture profiles.
P.S.
Pawel and the Defold-verse of madness!
Great write-up! It was really interesting to read about how things were implemented under the hood. The images helped a lot in terms of visualizing how it works.
Typo:
“Defold give us a small”
Should be:
“Defold gave us a small”
I played the game and I’m impressed by the smooth movement of the background images.
At some point I tried to make a game with fast scrolling background but it looked jittery. The way I did it was to have some tilemaps for the background and move the tilemap’s game objects and keep the camera fixed.
What’s the recommended way to do this kind of game?
