At the last meetup with our community sponsors we went around the table and asked the participants what some of their most highly prioritised Defold issues were. I took note of (most of?) them and also checked against the 2021 roadmap to make sure some of the issues were planned to be fixed this year. Here are the issues discussed during the call (the ones planned for 2021 will have a link to an issue in the roadmap):

• WebP upgrade and threading
  • This will be fixed in the next release when we migrate to the new texture compression pipeline
• Synchronous text metrics for labels
  • Text metrics operations for labels should be synchronous · Issue #5556 · defold/defold · GitHub
• Externalise project encryption key
  • Move and externalise encryption key · Issue #5355 · defold/defold · GitHub
• Vertex colors
  • Material constants as attributes of vertices · Issue #5393 · defold/defold · GitHub
• Sprite scale in editor
  • Expose sprite scaling in editor (DEFEDIT-1051) · Issue #3981 · defold/defold · GitHub
• New script property types: string, list, data (table)
  • This one is super interesting and it is something we will investigate and start designing but there are no guarantees that it will receive an implementation
• Initial zoom level of collections
• Problems with layers, templates and stencils
