Hello!

We’d like to share a near-term snapshot of the areas we’re actively aiming to push forward over the coming quarters, check the details in the blog post:

Thank you for the blog post. It’s really nice to see that devs are listening to the users and working on features that will make working with Defold a lot easier.
I especially like:

  • local undo
  • FreeFly camera for editor (was working on a tutorial on this, but for in-game camera )
  • allowing any model to be used as a collision shape , removing common pipeline friction when bringing complex geometry into Defold !!! ----> The best news imo :confetti_ball:
  • 3D multi-instance component for vegetation and rocks!
  • New Light component and rendering works (great overall)

Thank you for the hard work you put in to make Defold a better engine

My personal favourite is the gamepad database :video_game:

Thanks for keeping us updated! I’m looking forward to seeing all of the improvements this year. I like the continued focus on 3D.

Are there any updates regarding Teal support in scripts? Is that on the radar for 2026? I just don’t want to get my hopes up if it’s not, haha.

This will be awesome!
I eager to know more about editor customizations, regarding “non modal panels” does it mean also “floating windows”?
Because with multiple screens and images permitted in editor_scripts, I would like to a have windows on other screens showing things?
I would also like to put scripts/code editor in other windows then scene and outline…such I have code in one screen and my collections/gameobjects opened in another.
Or have multiple collections opened to compare them.
So multi-windowed/dockable editor panels could be great!
This could also permit an icon toolbar system if we could dock a panel just under the menu, above the other existing panels

I would add that regarding example of editor customization, the Reaper DAW audio editor is a must! You can basically customize everything with tool bar systems, stored actions (scripted commands) attached to them or to keyboard short-cuts, or script visual in context menus (like a radial menu where your mouse is), floating/dock anywhere panels etc.
I think I am too much used to it, now this is my standard every soft should have
