Lately the changes I’m making are causing average duration time to decrease. Frustrating, because it’s difficult know exactly why or if it’s just random. I could go back to a version that had better durations and see if there was anything missing in the updates, either by accident or intentionally.
Image from the latest version. The theme (color pallette and traps) change every 5 levels.
Two of the biggest countries right now that seem to have the longest durations are China and Turkey. I know these are countries that have a lot of game developers, so hard to say if they’re players or teams doing research. Game development on apps is very competitive.

Updated the controls again. No more tile to tile movement.
Also thinking about adding a player dash to make the game more action-focused. A dash will make the player invulnerable temporarily, allowing it to move over traps, cross obstacles, etc.
Latest version.

Put this on hold for now. I think it has potential, but I need to step away and come back to it later. Another factor is some of the other games I’ve spent less time on than this are performing better in their testing phases.

Thanks for sharing, as someone who never used poki do you find their testing phases to be somewhat accurate compared to actual releases? Because the demographics might be different and such.
Hard to say. It seems accurate as far as user behavior goes, but you’re right about the demographics. It also depends on the type of game. A 4x style of game for example would probably not do well on Poki, but I know they can be highly successful on mobile.
