I have requested that information from the user, plus their current save file and a newly generated one. I’ll update if I hear back from them.

Windows was 64 bit.
Attaching the save files I have now received - for me these are all now working fine.
fates_of_ort1 - The updated version of the savefile that caused issues at the beginning.
fates_of_ort2 - Save file generated by the user starting a new game then quitting immediately.
fates_of_ort_settings - Same as 1 above - updated version of the settings save that now appears not to be corrupted.
