Jesus. I just happened to be downloading this onto my spare PC today for testing and ran into this as well - I figured it was a false positive and turned off Defender, since I operate out of Linux and this is the first time I’ve run Defold on Windows in literal months.

Hope I didn’t get an actual virus!

:information_source: Our windows executable is signed by Microsoft with a proper windows certificate! :information_source:

It happens from time to time that the various anti virus programs complain about the exe, but it has always resolved itself when whitelisting on their web sites.
We recommend you upload the exe to their whitelisting sites to help improve the reputation.

I would also like to point out that the entire build and release process happens in the open using GitHub Actions on servers provisioned by GitHub/Microsoft.

It should not be possible to tamper with the builds without exploiting some previously unknown security flaw. Not impossible of course, but highly unlikely.
