# Nakama server hosting

so for the gamejam,. i need to either run a computer with the server.. or rent a VM for a little in order to host the server for the jam periode.

Keep a computer running is nog an option so are there any tips on cheap hosting?

You can get a basic server with Digital Ocean that should be more than enough for the jam at a cost of maybe €2 a month

Looks like the price has gone up a bit and it costs €4/month

If the game will work on your hosted locally server and you’ll just send us a video it will be enough to be eligible for the reward. Worse case is when multiplayer is not only added as an option and the game is actually fun only with it ☹

I’m making a multiplayer game, and I’m happy to host a small server to make it playable. However, clearer guidance on how multiplayer entries were expected to work within the jam would have been handy.

Yeah, we didn’t think this through enough 😕 I’ll try to update somehow the description of the challenge to include some solutions.
