Curious what is the future for physic shapes in defold? Convex hull as currently implemented is limiting. Where you have to make several if you want to closely trace a shape. Why can’t we create concave shapes and let the engine deconstruct it to convex shapes so it works with the physics engine?

There are some known limitations indeed, and there are existing feature requests:

The most relevant for actually creating and editing convex shapes in Editor is [#6072](https://github.com/defold/defold/issues/6072), and has high priority (5/5).

Next is [#6916](https://github.com/defold/defold/issues/6916), which is about improving automatically generated 2D collision shapes, is on the Defold backlog with priority 4/5.

There’s also [#5894](https://github.com/defold/defold/issues/5894) for supporting several shapes in one `.convexshape` file with priority 4.

Note that [1.13.2](https://defold.com/2026/09/29/Defold-1-13-2/) added already a much better workflow for 3D collision geometry (hulls and triangle meshes directly from glTF/GLB).
