How is the better way to store your assets?

Hello all,

I’ve been buying assets bundle. Sounds, images, maps, icons, sprites etc… and after months I got several zip folders with cool stuff but to be honest I don’t remember all I have in there.

Most part of them has restrictions to use so I can’t publish them in public portals. How is the best approach to store them? how do you organize your personal assets library?

Backup zips on reliable file storage like Google Drive. Keep unzipped copies on a media server so they can be easily searched when you need something. Keep a doc catalog for what you have purchased with descriptions so you can remind yourself in the future what you have.

Sure, so this is the way. thank you.

Another question is:
is useful to create a Defold project with all available GO using my assets?

The idea is have all it in GOs ready for use and when I start in a next game jam I already have something ready for use and then I get more time to focus on GameDesign or Game History for example.

Is that valid or it is a wake of time/energy? Or is it the wrong approach?

It’s pretty convenient to have everything ready for use in Defold for sure, but on the other hand it doesn’t take that long to set it up either.
