Hi everyone,
I made a free local-first tool called VFXRun Browser for previewing 2D PNG sequence effects before bringing them into a game engine.
It scans local folders, groups PNG sequences, and lets you preview them as animations instead of guessing from static thumbnails.
Useful things it can do:
- Browse local VFX folders
- Preview PNG sequences and GIF effects
- Search and filter by filename, color, or effect type
- Save favorites
- Open the original folder
- Test effects with a background, character, or object
- Export edited results for your normal engine workflow
Files stay on your computer. No upload and no account required.

There is also SheetGen, a free online sprite sheet packing tool:
I’d be interested to know if this is useful for Defold users working with 2D effects.
