ciao everybody

I really like how the editor handles updates with the clickable “Updates Available” label.

It would be great to have the same experience for pre-releases. I know the channel can be changed by editing the channel line in the config file, or by installing a separate beta editor, but a dropdown in Preferences to pick the update channel (stable / beta, and maybe alpha if you think it makes sense to expose it) would make it much easier to opt in and help with testing.

Is there a strong reason not to do this? I searched GitHub and couldn’t find an existing ticket (the closest is #13349, about distinct icons per channel). If there isn’t one, would it be useful if I opened a feature request?
