Dedicated graphics card specs for Defold? (SOLVED)

I’ll be upgrading my current (really old) laptop soon and am currently able to get a pretty nice deal on a new laptop with a dedicated Nvidia MX250 (2GB GDDR) card or for a few hundred (US$)more I could get one with a GTX1050 (3GB GDDR). However, from my experience with my old laptop and the small amount of time I’ve spent with Defold it seems like the GTX would be overkill.

For reference, aside from running a few virtual machines at a time for day-to-day job related tasks, Defold is probably going to be the most graphically demanding program I’m running on this computer. So, I wouldn’t mind saving the money if the GTX is overkill.

Just curious what others thoughts are regarding a baseline or suggested specs for a laptop graphics card with Defold.
Thanks!

Well, I’ve been using Defold for years (on desktop) with no graphics card, just the integrated Intel HD 4000. I’ve never tried to edit huge scenes with tons of graphics, and maybe it’s been a little bit sluggish at times, but never enough that I would have a problem with it.

If you look at their benchmarks, the MX250 has about 5x the rating as my HD 4000, so…you should be just fine with that. Really, probably any new machine, laptop or desktop, should be able to run Defold smoothly.

Thanks for the reference info and link @ross.grams! They’re very much appreciated  Looks like the MX250 will be plenty for my needs!
