We have a new **Creator Spotlight** on the Defold blog!

This time we talked with Cillian, better known as **Fatal Exit** - a solo developer, musician and multimedia artist from Ireland who has completed **well over 50 game jams** and experimented with a long list of engines and frameworks over the years.

 ![fatal_exit_interview](https://forum-defold-uploads.b-cdn.net/original/3X/a/9/a9bae35997b0de1f233be0aaa8c8293290848c2c.jpeg)

Recently, Defold has become an increasingly important part of his workflow, with projects including **Death Cascade** , **Dopaminer** , **Juggernaut: Siegebreaker** , and several games currently in development.

The interview covers quite a lot: developing games for the web, game jams, audio and game design, porting existing projects to Defold, 2D and 3D performance, Wavedash, and Cillian’s extensive experiments with coding agents and automated development workflows.

Just a fragment:

> Personally, out of all of these, the two I loved most were DragonRuby in the past and, more recently, Defold once again. Both have good cross-platform support, good web exports, and small project and build sizes. Defold is significantly more mature feature-wise, and Lua is a more popular language for gamedev. Another thing I value is whether it’s possible to use these engines with coding assistants. As an early adopter, from the beginnings of GitHub Copilot to tools like Claude Code now working with Defold’s Automation Bridge extension, I’ve found that the current generation works massively better with Defold than previous ones ever did.

Cillian shares an interesting perspective from someone who has worked with Construct, GDevelop, Unity, Godot, DragonRuby, Phaser, PixiJS, Defold and others, and explains why Defold’s combination of small builds, web performance, cross-platform support and extensibility works particularly well for the kinds of games he makes.

There’s also plenty about his actual workflow, including how Death Cascade was made for Defold Game Jam 2026, how he divides work between coding agents and his own art and audio production, and what he would like to see next from Defold’s automation tooling.

Thank you for giving me a shot at writing this up. It’s been incredible to find a good place again in Defold. A big part of what made me feel welcome and motivated to work with it lately was interactions from the Defold account and Defold team on socials and I think you folks should be proud of yourselves for making people want to take part and be part of the community!

Great read! Really enjoyed this one. A lot of it felt surprisingly relatable. Thanks for sharing this!

This is crazy - but Wavedash allows to share embedded games inside your website, so we tested it and added Dopaminer and Draft Punks that you can play directly **inside** the interview!

Check it out!

Great games! I have no idea how to play “Draft Punks,” but the beat is sick! 😄

P.S. It is funny how people/companies are rediscovering HTML iframes.

No one really promoted them for a long time, especially not for embedded games, so it looks like a fresh air, even though this is with us everyday on almost all pages 😅
Same with WebGPU, technology is there, but it still is looking its wide adoption (which we strive to improve!)
