The atlas file concerned makes a texture of 2048x2048px and contains about 290 anim groups.
When browsing the list of animation groups, it works smoothly when selecting one for the first and second time (single-selection, clicking one then another), but everything stalls when clicking a third anim group. There is a cpu load seemingly at about 50-60% and a “not responding” status message in Windows task manager. It takes up to 30 seconds (sometimes more) to select that third anim group. Have to wait some time before lagging stops and CPU load decreases. I’m then able to click one or two anim groups in succession before it lags again. Similarly, it takes up to 30 seconds from hitting spacebar to displaying/cancelling an animation preview when this problem is present.
I have loosely guessed that it may be due to my “old” computer low in RAM but it doesn’t seem to hit any roofs. I’ve solved the problem by editing large atlas-files with a text-editor instead, which is fast and convenient when you need to locate anim groups or file names quickly or shuffle frames around.
Smaller atlas-files with just a few anim groups doesn’t bring about any disturbing amounts of lag, though browsing the list seems slower than it ought to be.
